Where is King's View Lodge located?
King’s View Lodge is located in beautiful Whangaroa, Northland, New Zealand, overlooking Whangaroa Harbour. We’re an ideal base for exploring the Far North, with easy access to beaches, walking tracks, fishing, boating and many of Northland’s attractions.
Do you have a swimming pool?
Yes. Guests are welcome to enjoy our outdoor swimming pool during their stay. The pool is open year round and maintained to professional standards on a weekly basis.
Do you have a spa pool?
Yes. Our spa pool is available for guest use and is normally kept at approximately 39°C. It’s a lovely place to relax at the end of the day.
Do the rooms have kitchen facilities?
Our Harbour View and Pool View Suites have private kitchenette facilities suitable for preparing simple meals and snacks. Guests staying in the Twin Room have access to kitchenette facilities in the nearby laundry area.
Is there a BBQ?
Yes. Guests are welcome to use our BBQ facilities – perfect for an easy dinner after a day exploring or fishing.
What accommodations do you offer?
- Harbour View Suite – our spacious suite with beautiful views over Whangaroa Harbour and a private kitchenette.
- Pool View Suite – a comfortable suite overlooking the pool, with its own kitchenette.
- Twin Room – a smaller, affordable room with twin beds and access to kitchenette facilities in the nearby laundry.

Can I do laundry during my stay?
Yes. Guest laundry facilities are available between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. We provide complementary washing powder.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Yes, complementary Hi-speed Wifi is provided by Starlink for our guests.
Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available for our guests. Generally, only one space per room is available. Should you need additional parking, please contact us for availability.
Is trailer boat parking available?
Yes, we can accomodate up to a 6 meter trailer boat. Please confirm with us availability before making your reservation. Note, the last 200 meters of road is gravel and the driveway is steep, but experienced operators will have no problem with hauling and parking. We will reserve the designated trailer parking with an orange cone on the day of your arrival. We recommend you back trailer into designated spot to allow easy exit.
Are children welcome?
King’s View Lodge welcomes guests aged 10 years and over.
Do you have a spa pool?
Yes. Our spa pool is available for guest use and is normally kept at approximately 39°C. It’s a lovely place to relax at the end of the day.
Is smoking allowed?
No. King’s View Lodge is a non-smoking property. Smoking is not permitted inside guest accommodation. A NZ$250 additional cleaning charge may apply if smoking occurs inside a room.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation conditions can vary depending on the rate or booking method you choose. Your specific cancellation terms will be clearly displayed before you confirm your reservation. Our most flexible cancellation policy is for guests that book direct through our website at www.kingsview.co.nz
What are some things to do nearby?
- Popular activities in the area include fishing and boating, hiking, swimming, visiting local beaches, exploring Whangaroa Harbour and taking day trips to Kerikeri, the Bay of Islands, Matauri Bay and other Far North destinations.
Are pets allowed?
While we have a resident Papillon dog on site, we do not allow outside pets. If you have a qualified service animal, please contact us directly, so that we may provide bowls and blankets.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Self check-in is available after 3 pm and check-out is 10 am. If you need an earlier arrival or later departure, contact us and we’ll accommodate your request when possible. Late check-in is not a problem as we offer lockbox entry.
Do you have a minimum stay?
Minimum-stay requirements can vary depending on the room, season and dates selected. Our online booking system will show the requirements for your chosen dates.
Do you provide housekeeping services?
We are a self-catered boutique accommodation. We are happy to offer linen changes and room cleans for every 7 days of days. If you need additional towels or room amenities during your stay, please reach out to us.
Is King’s View a good place to stay for fishing trips?
Absolutely. Whangaroa is renowned for its fishing, and we regularly welcome anglers visiting the area. Whether you’re heading offshore, fishing the harbour or joining a local charter, King’s View makes a comfortable base.
Is King’s View suitable for a quiet getaway?
Yes. King’s View is a small, relaxed property rather than a large hotel or resort. It’s particularly suited to couples, independent travellers and guests looking for a peaceful base from which to explore Northland.
Do you have air-conditioning
No. Our climate is quite mild and generally, we do not have many hot days. Our rooms our fully screens, to allow natural ventilation, along with ceiling fans and portable floor fans. For truely hot mid-summer days, guest can enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool.
Are you open in the Winter?
No, Whangaroa is a seasonal area and we close our lodge between May and October.
How far are you from the Bay of Islands?
The Bay of Islands is an easy day trip from King’s View, making it possible to enjoy Kerikeri, Paihia and surrounding attractions while staying somewhere quieter and away from the busiest tourist areas.
What's provided in the kitchenettes?
Our kitchenettes are well equipped with coffee machine, kettle, toaster, single induction hotplate, electric skillet, microwave, mini-fridge, air fryer, pots/pan, crockery, cutlery, glasses, knives, cooking utensils, bowls and basics such as salt, pepper and cooking oil. A large fridge, located in the guest laundry, is available for extra provisions for longer stays.
What dining and take-away options are available?
The nearby Whangaroa Sport Fishing Club has a cafe that is open for dinner nightly and for lunch seasonally. Additional options in nearby township of Kaeo include Kai’o Kai, and Spices Indian Grill. Numerous eateries in nearby towns of Mangonui and Kerikeri offer a variety of cuisines.
How far in advance should I book?
Whangaroa can be particularly busy during the New Zealand summer and around holidays and fishing events. If you have specific dates in mind, we recommend booking early.
